Cinema time

Last night I went to the most beautiful cinema I have ever been to. It is in Miramar which is on the outskirts of the City of Wellington. The cinema is called the Roxy.

The Roxy has an amazing 1930's feel to it, when in fact all that is left of the original cinema is the front of the building. I am a great lover of history and Architecture and the Roxy had it in abundance. It began it's life in 1928 as a silent film cinema. Then moved into 'talkies' in 1932 and continued to operate as a cinema until 1964. The building was then converted into a shopping mall before sitting idle for awhile. It was then purchased by some cinema enthusiasts (including Perter Jackson) and converted into what it is today; a beautifully restored cinema. With lots of special surprises, such as the painted ceiling on level one.
